"Ergonomic Analysis of Processes and Work Practices in a Hospital: an Embedded Single-Case Study".

The thesis applies to the organisational field of intervention, with a specific focus on the ergonomic analysis of work and processes in a complex socio-technical system. Its objectives lay on two levels: from the one side to investigate the inter-organisational processes and interdependencies in complex socio-technical systems and visualise the occurring flaws in a view of system performance; from the other, to describe and assess specific work systems interactions, to suggest leverages for changes in a view of intra-organisational performance. These objectives address different challenges: 1) what methods suit the best to describe, assess and (re)design work systems and processes? 2) how the possible flaws occurring in the work process and subsystems interdependences may be visualised? 3) which leverages for change may be more effective than others to produce a desired change in organisations in a view of system performance and health?
